Are you passionate about insects and eager to make a significant contribution to scientific research? The Entomology I section at the Senckenberg Research Institute is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the digitization and organization of our extensive Coleoptera collection.
About Us: The Senckenberg Research Institute houses an impressive array of beetles. With a staggering 1.8 million beetle specimens (including approximately 6,500 type specimens), our Coleoptera collection offers a unique opportunity for research and discovery.
Volunteer Opportunities: As a volunteer, you will have the chance to engage in a variety of tasks, depending on your skills and interests. These include:
- Specimen Identification: Help us identify and classify beetle specimens, contributing to our ongoing research and taxonomy projects.
- Mounting and Labeling: Learn the art of mounting beetles on insect pins and labeling them accurately, ensuring proper preservation and organization.
- Digitization: Assist in the digitization process by capturing high-resolution images of specimens and entering relevant data into our digital database.
- Collection Organization: Participate in organizing and curating the Coleoptera collection, ensuring that specimens are properly stored and accessible for future research.
